Sunset beach, just below Malibu - less crowded, good waves! I look forward to surfing this spot again.

The end of Sunset Blvd. (Route 66), just after it winds its way down thru Hollywood and Bel Air, past the back side of the UCLA campus, coming out at PCH north of Santa Monica - Sunset... across the Santa Monica Bay from Palos Verdes. Used to be a restaurant, Sunset Cliff?, where Cookie of Sunset Strip fame (77 Sunset Strip - da dump, da dump), used to hang out.
That's the place - restaraunt is still there last time I went 2 years ago. If you get there early enough you can park in the restaraunt parking lot for free. If not, you have to make the major U-turn on park on PCH - which isn't so bad. Climb down the rocks and path and you're in the water, paddling.
